Today, a Full Dome Film, "Luminaries of Bengal" to be displayed in the full dome theatre of Science City, Kolkata, was inaugurated by the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah in presence of Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Hon’ble Minister of State for Culture and Parliamentary Affairs, Ms. Mugdha Sinha, Joint Secretary, MoC and Shri A. D. Choudhury, DG, NCSM at Science City, Kolkata.
The full dome film, “Luminaries of Bengal” has been developed to commemorate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and is the first of its kind film completely developed and produced in India in three languages – Hindi, Bengali and English. It is being showcased in both 2D and 3D formats, using 4K technology, on a 23-meter diameter digital full-dome theatre. The opening scenes of the film feature breath-taking views of the snow-covered mountains of Darjeeling and Sandakuf, as well as the serene hills of Purulia and Bankura. The dynamic, ever-moving waves of the ocean in Digha and Mandarmani are also highlighted. The film then takes us on a journey through the winding rivers of the vast Ganga Delta. Moving on, it delves into the early history of Bengal and explores the significant contributions of various personalities in the domains of science, culture, art, music, literature, and spirituality. The film also sheds light on the pivotal role played by the people of Bengal in India's freedom struggle.
